You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.
John C. Maxwell
A morning routine could change your life.
Let's look at why the morning is the best time for a routine:
It will help you end procrastination, be a healthier, more positive person, and set up your day for success.
It gives you an opportunity to have time for the things you know you should be doing. By setting your alarm early, no matter what else happens the rest of the day, you’ve accomplished your morning routine.
Easing into your day instead of stressing and rushing, puts you in a proactive mindset rather than reactive. Drive your day, or your day will drive you.
Your willpower is highest in the morning, use it!
Non negotiable activities to change your life:
Meditate. Clear your mind, so you can have more focus the rest of your day. You'll have this sense of inner peace and calmness that will help you through potential stress that may come up later in the day.
Gratitude. A daily practice of gratitude has been shown to improve your physical and mental health. Focus on three to five things your are most grateful for that morning, a relationship, your health etc. Starting your day on a thankful note, allows you to cultivate more abundance.
Daily Goals. Every morning write down your goals. This will keep you mindful of your choices the rest of the day. Are they moving you closer or further away from reaching your goals? It will give you a road map for your day ahead.
Bonus activities to add:
Ask yourself Steve Jobs morning question:
"If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?"
From author Hal Elrod:
“How you wake up each day and your morning routine (or lack thereof) dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life. Focused, productive, successful mornings generate focused, productive, successful days—which inevitably create a successful life—in the same way that unfocused, unproductive, and mediocre mornings generate unfocused, unproductive, and mediocre days, and ultimately a mediocre quality of life.
By simply changing the way you wake up in the morning, you can transform any area of your life, faster than you ever thought possible.”
Design your morning routine in a way that speaks to you and your goals. Then commit to 20 minutes in the morning everyday and see what happens.
